DESCRIPTION We will have the chance to visit Pienza, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its world-renowned cultural and natural patrimony and a town that was conceived by Pope Pius II as a utopian Renaissance village. There you can visit a spacious Renaissance palace to see how the Tuscan nobility once lived or search for signs of the glorious Roman Empire in the mosaics and fountains around town. Apart from its magnificent Renaissance architecture, Pienza is also famous for its delicious sheep’s milk cheese, Pecorino, which you can sample in various local shops.
Your day continues as we drive through glorious landscapes to reach Montepulciano where you will have the chance to experience more Tuscan history and taste some of its world famous Nobile di Montepulciano wines. Stop into one of the town’s quaint enotecas for a wine tasting with flavorful local produce or simply stroll the ancient streets to discover their tucked-away artisanal workshops. Complete your walk in town with a visit to the Sant'Antimo abbey where the Gregorian chants of monks still echo from the monastery walls as they did centuries ago.
