Built atop three hills in the heart of Tuscany, Siena is surrounded by impressive walls, filled with fine examples of Gothic architecture, and characterized by one of the world's most unique town squares, the Piazza del Campo (where the Palio di Siena takes place).
There are two palio races held each summer in Siena, one on July 2nd and the other on August 16th. The town’s associated festivities commence three days prior to each Palio race, though the anticipation can be felt for weeks before that. During this period there are banquets, parades, blessings for the participating horses, and celebrations of all kinds.
After admiring the main square where these races take place, you will have time to wind through the medieval streets of the town where time seems to have stopped in the year 1000. Having enjoyed your time in Siena, hop back into your luxury vehicle to continue to your final destination.
